Metamorphosis
—from Association to Academy

Freely we have received, and freely we give. Developing capacities to their fullest, Gilead Academy educates students today for the world of tomorrow. Built on the solid foundation of the Bible and with a non-profit charter, we rest on God's providential care and leading. With a strong emphasis on music, health, and horticulture the Academy operates year round enabling a broad curriculum and resourceful programs. Metamorphosis continued…

What's Happening

The timidity of spring deepens our patience here in the Sides of the North. Just days ago lovely yellow, purple and white of the hearty little crocuses delivered their effervescent cheer and delight, blessed relief from cold grey and sleeping brown, tones of a very long, very cold winter. Snow mounds and frost heaves shrink as spring showers and warmer temperatures wittle them away. Spring is indeed the season of deliverance.

Gardeners have neatly planted vegetable seeds, they should be popping up in just moments and flower seeds will be finding cozy places to germinate very soon. This past week we enjoyed delicious hydroponic lettuce on sandwiches, what a treat!

Resuming rehearsals the NLSO prepares for the summer performance season. We are looking forward to guest musicians that plan to join us.

Not for the faint of heart, the Dynamic Website Development classes set sail following a Passover break giving both instructors and students "a boat load" of opportunities for exploration and personal development. So much to learn!

Spring is such a glorious time of new life, new beginnings. It's so easy to see, that the last word is always…Hope.

Soul Refreshment

“There is a distinction between recreation and amusement. Recreation, when true to its name, re-creation, tends to strengthen and build up. Calling us aside from our ordinary cares and occupations, it affords refreshment for mind and body, and thus enables us to return with new vigor to the earnest work of life. Amusement, on the other hand, is sought for the sake of pleasure and is often carried to excess; it absorbs the energies that are required for useful work and thus proves a hindrance to life’s true success.”
– Education pg. 207; E. G. White

“Recreation and amusement, why are they not the same? One has a means to an end. What is amusement? Amusement has no limit. Recreation is re-creation because you have all that fresh air in your lungs and brain cells and you feel good. Recreation tends to strengthen and upbuild.”
